I think back on my days at 91X with great fondness. The things that I learned there gave me a sturdy base for a future career in radio. A point to all air talents who are there now and to those who are considering going there, learn everything that you can because it will help you in the future.

I spent many hours in the old studio, on the basketball court, and at the diamond. I miss the fun we had. Would love to hear from some of the others. Also had a show at the old KREB station "Atop the beautiful Penn Tower" I think that was the Penn Hotel. What a dive.

KXUL was the first actual on-air announcing experience I had. It was educational, the equipment was top notch (which can't always be said for commercial stations) and above all it was FUN.

When I started working at KXUL in 1978, announcers could not identify themselves. One student, not agreeing with the rule, introduced a cast of characters who identified themselves nearly every break. The student was Chuck Redden, and from that year on, radio in Monroe would never be the same.
