Hey Joel! The site looks great! Just surfing by remembering all the great times. It's good to see a lot of old friends on here ... Gill, Sanders, Cole, Biff, Newman, Shannon, Michele, Tracy, Sandie, Andrew, Jennifer, Susan, Cory, Gwen & THOR! Good to get an update on everyone too. Me, I work as a Producer/Avid Editor for the marketing department of a CBS station. I got married a few years ago to a wonderful girl on the beaches of Negril Jamaica, but no kids. Miss all the great music at KNLU and the fun times! Who would have thought I would end up in living on Tulsa time.

Ok, I live in the Los Angeles area, shoot film/digital/video, play music (guitar) and write about political things as such the sad state of affairs in a post modern media/political culture made up of mainly spineless sell-outs, parrots and losers pretending to be someone who really hate.Sheesh, one of these days I will have to work on being more assertive in sharing my viewpoints. What a trip! (lighting a cigarette) Ok ... I quit smoking long ago however the effect seems appropriate and certainly sets my mood at this moment in time. So, here I am chatting away with a friend online about nothing and somehow the Biedenharns, Monroe and the Coke formula blah, blah, blah comes up as a matter of coloring an otherwise senseless conversation.(blowing smoke rings and after the last one leans forward and glances towards Steve Hill) Hey, old, old, old friend, please do not laugh too quickly, for I am actually amazed (for both of us) that we have brain cells left over to remember that KNLU stuff, much less the faint echoes in the halls of Brown after Dr. Smith yelled, "Where's Gary!?!?!" whenever something went wrong ... as I fondly recall now.Well, as only I can do with the precision of a broken clock, I ended up having to explain (much to my friend's dismay) all of my "happy days" (fall 1969) at NLSC as a completely naive idiot trying to figure out if I would major in Geology or Journalism -- being that I was a rockhound/aspiring (horrible) writer of nonsense and accomplished at both -- nonsense that is. (Evidence unfolding)By 1970 ... I was a guitar-picking, girl-chasing, Theta Xi partyhound (forget rocks and horrid grammar).Naturally, as with most of my prouder college moments, by the 4th or 5th week of that wonderful Fall semester, I had the keen, razor-sharp intelligence to drop out without withdrawing from any of the classes ... earning me a stellar .04 GPA for the fall of 1970 (up laugh track). Why .04? A Geology lab assistant saw me performing with a band at some club, liked me enough to feel sorry for me, and he (literally) gave me a "D" in that lab for being a cool guy, or a jerk. Who knows? As if I am proud of this accomplishment, I missed straight F's by one D.Nevertheless, idiots may be lucky! Having a really high draft number kept me out of Vietnam ... (that was important back then) and by 1972, I decided to do something with my life ... so, I changed my major to Radio & TV Management in the spring 1972 semester ... and life would never be the same, and the same goes for NLU.I could go on ... I'll spare you the bandwidth and the indulgence, and I shall bring this to a less than abrupt "Italian Good-bye" close.Amazingly, I actually graduated. (laughing like the naive idiot from 1969)After all of that, all I have learned, I learned before I was six ... nothing changes ... it just looks that way ...Yes, it is astounding to sit here and reflect on the old days ... and suddenly realize that I have a daughter older than most of the people to whom this is written and aimed. YEOW!Yet rest assured, I can tell you ... and so will my lovely daughter, Amy, I haven't changed a bit on the inside ...Thank y'all! Nice to see that we're remembered and even given a little space. You are welcome to get in touch and stay in touch.Dr. William Covington? It's still Bill to me! Lafs ... Hey Preston! Good to see that you are alive, too! Where's Max?

I basically just filled in at KNLU (I just can't get used to saying KXUL) whenever Joe Hernandez needed a fill-in. But I still felt like part of the family, and I miss you guys. I'm married now to a former Ruston girl, and I'm halfway through law school at Louisiana State University (having discovered that a career in journalism would never allow me the small luxuries in life, like eating regularly and clothing). I must say that the LSU station is just a pale shadow of you guys. Keep up the great work.

Tasha's married, Newman's got a kid, Stuart still goes by Biff ... WOW things get wierd when calendars flip too fast. I'm STILL getting fired for shooting my mouth off, and I still wish I was still at 91X. LA's cold this time of life, and the good memories just get ... gooder. Big pats on the backs to those on the air these days, you have no idea the good you're doing yourselves. Hope all's well Joel.

Perhaps I'm the only guy ever "released" of my morning show duties b/c I could never roll out of the rack early enough. Despite, ahem, flunking out of NLU, I DID graduate from UALR much, much later and am now having a blast in Shreveport. Even though my maturity level matched 7-year-olds at the time, I had a blast at good ol' KNLU

I remember one Saturday morning locking myself out of the studio. I had to wait outside until someone noticed and came up to see what was going on. About 50 minutes of dead air as a result. Remember to get the key from under the ash tray if you go to the restroom. The door locks itself. It was wacky.
